Introduction: Country Fried Steak
Country fried steak, also know as chicken fried steak is very much one of those comfort foods that makes me think of family meals when I was a child. This is an easy recipe to follow to make a delicious southern entree.
Step 1: INGREDIENTS
Meat
Cube steak (sirloin that has been tenderized, with a cuber)
Egg Wash
2 eggs
1/4 heavy cream
Breading
1.5 Cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. onion powder
1.tsp garlic powder
1/2 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. black pepper
Step 2: Coating the Meat
Beat the eggs and cream in a medium bowl and set aside.
Mix the flour and spices in another medium bowl and set aside.
Dip the meat into the egg wash, then into the flour. Then, dip the meat back into the egg wash and into the flour once more.
The double dip really seems to add a nice thick layer of delicious crust to it.
Step 3: Cook It.
Place the steak into a medium heat skillet with the oil of our choice.. Cook it until the internal temperature reaches at least 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the meat onto a rack to drain the excess oil.
Serve hot with your choice of sides.

If you cant do white gravy try brown gravy and add sauted or grilled onions. Use Beef broth instead of the milk to make your gravy. Then slow simmer the steak in the brown gravy for a while to tenderize it even more. Thats called country fried steak. Just FYI theres a differance between country fried steak and chicken fried steak. They start out the same but they are differant. Using white gravy and while not slow simmering or not using gravy at all is called chicken fried steak. I'm from Texas where the chicken fried steak was first made. We love our C.F.S. ?

That was just a joke but sounds good. Now I'm gonna have to go mix some vodka with my sweet tea. Thanks for the "ible", I haven't made chicken fried steak in quite a while.

Couldn't you make gravy without milk? With the left over grease and water and flour and butter?

White gravy without milk just isn't the same. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I tend to leave it out because I'm lactose intolerant. Sorry.
