I made coved drawer fronts for an existing old dresser.

Supplies

For the "coves"

- 4" strips of pine - wood glue - Table Saw - clamps -Drawer boxes were made out of 1/2" plywood Your choices: - paint - hardware

Step 1: Establish Depth

- I marked a line on the end of the wood showing the depth of my desired cove.

- I held that up to my table saw blade and raised it to the line.

Step 2: Table Saw Setup

- I used 4 pieces of pine to make a "parallel jig".

- I found the angle where the two outer pieces were barely touching the raised table saw blade.

- I then clamped those pieces in place.

Step 3: Cove the Wood

- Lower the table saw blade until only a small amount of the blade is above the table.

- Run the wood through the saw, keeping the wood snug to the parallel jig.

*****SAFETY TIP Use push blocks to move the wood through the saw. I could have used an additional one for my front hand.*****

- Raise the blade slightly after each pass, until you reach the desired depth.

Step 4: Glue the Pieces

- Glue the ends of the pieces together and clamp them in place.

- You may need weights to place on the panels to keep them from bowing.

- Once dried, remove the clamps and sand the panel smooth.

Step 5: Cut to Size

- Cut the panel to your desired drawer size.

- Attach the drawer fronts to drawer boxes.

Step 6: Finish

- Apply your choice of finish and hardware

- Enjoy your transformation.
