Create a Milo Table From Tristan Titeux's ReCut Series.

My name is Tristan Titeux, I am a pioneer in the field of Contemporary Eco Fitted Furniture. I create a lot of waste and decided to come up with a design of furniture that used both the off cuts that where too small for anything else and the old furniture we pulled out of peoples homes. I created the ReCut series.

The first piece from the ReCut series is Milo.

My mission is to ensure that all fitted furniture will be totally sustainable in the future.

I am known as a pioneer in my field for the use or unusual materials never seen in fitted furniture such as straw that uses no glue.

I leave people feeling totally satisfied that they have chosen to take an important step towards creating a clean and positive future for their children.

Step 1: Step One: Design

First you need to have an idea in mind about what you would like your piece of furniture to be, what shape and size.

Then draw it on paper or computer, you can use an easy 3D programme called Sketchup which is free.

The idea behind my ReCut TM series is to use pieces that where too small and useless for anything else. Offcuts are usually small and bitty and no good for making large conventional items, so think about how to make your design using small pieces!

Step 2: Step 2: Material Selection

Then once you have a design in mind you need to see what waste materials you have and match them up for size and for decorative and design value to see how they will go together.

Step 3: Step 3: Marking Out the Pieces

Then use a template to draw around and mark the pieces you need to cut.

Step 4: Step 4: Cutting the Pieces.

Then cut the pieces out.

Step 5: Step 5: Glue the Pieces Together

Glue the pieces together using a natural plant based glue ideally. It is important to promote the use of renewable and sustainable based materials so that we rely less on oil which is running out fast.

Step 6: Step 6: Clamp the Pieces

Clamp the pieces to make them bond well together. 

Step 7: Step 7: Keep Adding Layers.

Keep adding, gluing and clamping your layers.

Step 8: Step 8: Sanding

Sand your table to make it nice and smooth.

Step 9: Step 9: Oil It

Lastly oil the table with a natural oil made from plants.

Step 10: Step 10: Enjoy

Then place your table somewhere and enjoy it!
