Introduction: Crochet Pastel Baby Blanket

About: A Software Engineer. I love learning new things. Hooked up with Instructables. It is the biggest find I ever made. :D Cooking and Crochet are my passion. I love to learn different techniques and cuisines.

This is a special make for my baby due December. So this blanket always remains close to my heart. As I write this instructables I am in my 37th week and all set with this blanket to welcome my little one.

It is a granny square blanket given with a good lace border.

I love pastel colors and I have used the same color tone. It is simple but time consuming. Hope you like this article.

Step 1: Material

Round 2: ch5, tr into the same st at the beginning of the round, 2dc in each st for the next 2 sts, *tr+ ch2+tr into the next st, 2dc in each st for the next 2 sts, repeat 3 times till you have 4 corners done. slst to the ch space at the beginning of the round.

Step 3: Granny Square - 2

space at the beginning of the round, 2dc in next st, dc in each st for the next 4 sts, 2dc in next st, *tr+ ch2+tr into the ch space of the corner, 2dc in next st, dc in each st for the next 4 sts, 2dc in next st, repeat 3 times till you have 4 corners done. slst to the ch space at the beginning of the round.

Step 4: Granny Square - 3

Round 5: ch5, tr into the same ch

space at the beginning of the round, 2dc in next st, dc in each st for the next 12 sts, 2dc in next st, *tr+ ch2+tr into the ch space of the corner, 2dc in next st, dc in each st for the next 12 sts, 2dc in next st, repeat 3 times till you have 4 corners done. slst to the ch space at the beginning of the round

Step 5: Joining the Squares Together

There are different ways you can join the squares.

I used the most simple method. You can connect two squares using the slip stitch or the Single crochet. So when you use that there would be a small edging along the sides of the squares.

Step 6: Edging

You can give any edging you like. I have given a simple lace effect edging.

Pretty lacy edging:

Round 1: Join edge yarn and sc in each stitch around the blanket, join with ss to finish the round. I went with 3 sc in each corner, but just add enough stitches to the corner so it stays flat and doesn’t pull.

Round 2: Chain 5, skip next 4 sc, (dc, ch3, dc) in next sc, ch 5, skip next 4 sc, sc in next sc. repeat around, join with ss to finish the round.

Round 3: Chain 5, sc in next ch-5 space, 3dc, ch3, 3dc in next ch-3 space, sc in next ch-5 space, repeat around, join with ss to finish the round.

Round 4: Ch1, *sc in next 5ch, dc in next dc, picot, dc in next dc, dc in next dc, picot, (2dc, picot, 2dc) in next ch3 space, picot, dc in next dc, dc in next dc, picot, dc in next dc, sc in next ch5 space* Repeat between * and * around. Join with ss into ch1 to finish the round.
