Introduction: Custom Clock Gift (under $5)

Learn how to turn a plain, cheap, boring clock into something special and personal. A perfect gift for the one you love.

(This is my first instructable so go easy on me.)

Step 1: Supplies

The supplies are pretty simple

1. Cheap clock (got mine from target for $3)

2. Screwdriver

3. Printer

4. Ruler

5. Scissors

6. Creativity

Step 2: Opening the Clock

First lets start by opening the clock.
Flip the clock over onto its back.
Most of the clocks that I have seen have 2 little clips on the back holding the front cover on.
Push these clips with your flat head screwdriver and the front cover should pop off.
If you don't have clips either return the clock or see if you can pry the front cover off.


Step 3: More Removal

Now that the cover is off lets take the hands and face off.

All you need to do is pull the hands off the clock. Not very hard just a little pressure and off they come.

The holes on the hands are different sizes so you don't need to remember their order.

Once you have those put aside, its time to pull the paper background off. (its just glued on)

Set it aside we will use it later.

Step 4: Picture Time

Now its time to do the fun part.

Measure the clock face so you know how big your pic needs to be.

I used photoshop to resize and edit the picture that I made.

You need to make sure that you get it centered and know where the clock hands will go.

If you want to this is where you can put the numbers on it. ( I chose not to, looks nicer with out them)

Once yo got it done go ahead and print them out. ( you can also save them on a usb stick and get it printed out at a print shop on good quality photo paper. but that would cost more). I chose to use regular paper.





Step 5: Cutting

Time to cut the picture up now

Take the old face and put it onto of your picture.

Trace around that picture.

Cut the circle out and the center piece for the hands.

Does not have to be perfect.

Step 6: Reassembly

Now its time to reassemble the clock.

Now that its all cut out put the picture onto the clock. Make sure you line the top of the picture up with the top of the clock.

Put the hands back on the center of the clock at 12.

And snap the cover back on.

And your done.

Wrap it up and give it to your love for valentines day.
