Intro: Custom Funko POP! Figures

Welcome everyone! I was recently commissioned to create custom POP! figures for a wedding, and I wanted to share the process with you all.

Materials:

  • DIY POP! Figures
  • Sculpey Original Clay
  • Sculpting Tools
  • Spray Paint
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Masking Tape
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Clear Coat Spray
  • White Candy Boxes
  • White Tissue Paper
  • Painting brushes

STEP 1:

I begin the process of modeling by opening the Sculpey and " relaxing " the clay. Meaning I knead the clay until it is malleable. I started with the female characters and the first thing I did was model the base for the dresses.

Once was done I started working on the hair. I rolled out small pieces of clay and applied them to the head.

I then started working the hair style indicated by my client.

I then started working on the male figure's hair and beards.

Once complete they were ready for the oven!

STEP 2:

Baking is a simple process, I placed all the figures on aluminum that I placed on a flat baking tray.

I followed the instructions on the box and baked the figures in my home oven.

I then let the figures cool at room temperature and moved on to the next step.

STEP 3:

I began with masking out the areas I did not want to paint since the male figures were wearing white shirts.

I used spray paint for the skin tone and hand painted the other details with brush and acrylic.

After all the painting was complete, I gave each figure a clear coat to protect the paint job.

STEP 4:

For packaging I went to Hobby Lobby and found small white boxes that were the rough size of the figure.

I wrapped each figure in white tissue paper and then placed them in the boxes.

I attached a note and my business card on each on and delivered the project to my client.

Here are more photos of my commission. I hope you all enjoyed my Instructable and try to make one of your own. As always thanks for watching, until next time Cheers!
