Introduction: DIY Calendula Salve
The calendula flower, which is part of the marigold family, is known for its medicinal and skin soothing properties. I started to make this salve about a year ago to help with my VERY dry and sometimes painful skin issues and it has worked really well. This calendula flower combined with the lavender essential oil (which also has skin soothing properties) and olive oil makes for a great all natural concoction to help your skin. Use this recipe to make your own skin soothing salve.
Ingredients List
1/4c calendula flowers (you can buy them from Amazon here: http://amzn.to/2esSFEc )
1/2c olive oil
1/8c beeswax pellets
2 oz or 4 oz glass jars (I used 2 oz jars as I was giving mine away as gifts)
Step 1: Steeping
Combine the calendula flowers and the olive and let steep on a windowsill for 2 weeks or more. The longer the better.
Step 2: Add Beeswax and Essential Oils
Drain olive oil then put it over a double boiler add the beeswax pellets. Once melted, take off heat and let cool. Once cooled, add 40 drops lavender.
Step 3: Pour in to Containers
Pour into containers. I tripled it and it made 10 of these.
