Introduction: DIY Digital Clock
Have you ever been really bored and needed some fun DIY project to do? Well, have you ever thought about making a super,awesome, digital clock that you can actually tell time with? Well than you should really follow these awesome steps. Have Fun!
Step 1: Battery
Well a very important part of your clock is the battery. You can get these at Hardware stores, and at many other stores. Make sure your battery is reliable and charged up every time you want to use it.
Step 2: Arduino
Well this might be the most important thing you need to have to make your clock tell time. Of course, the Arduino! This chip actually processes the time. These programs that run can can be gotten from GitHub.You can easily get these on Amazon or at a place like Fry's.
Step 3: Wires
Well you may be able to make the clock easily, but you need the wires. These wires take the electricity and bring them to the other end (You probably knew that if you were on Inscrutables). You can get these wires at many stores, or in some kits.
Step 4: Wiring
Once you have all the materials, you need to wire your clock (Duhh). You can get the instuctions for wiring by searching http://www.antunkarlovac.com/blog/. He has a great website that tell you the input and output for wiring your clock with an arduino.
Step 5: Breadboard
Well, you need a breadboard to put the wires into. You also need to put buttons on the breadboard the control the time on the clock. You also need to put resisters in the right spot so you don't blow up your Arduino!
Step 6: Plugging It In
Well to actually give your arduino power you need a battery like in the picture above. You also need a cord to plug in from the arduino to the clock. You can get these blue wires in some kits. Plug your battery into your clock and turn it on!
Step 7: Have Fun!
Well here you can see in the video they actually work and tell time. They can be a fun craft to do when bored or just always need a cool project to be doing. You see our battery is not that reliable so get a better one. Sorry there is no actual demo, I accidentally turned the camera off, but the intro page's picture shows its front. Surprisingly this can be done ages 10 or 11 and up (I did it, it is a fun project and I'm only 11). I really hope you enjoy!!!
