DIY Fall Candle Holders (with Bonus DIY)

Hey, everyone! I'm finally back with a lovely DIY. Sorry it took so long to get this posted! Let's jump right into it, shall we?

Also, this project involves sharp objects. Kids, please ask someone you trust for help with this project. And since fake leaves are flammable, I recommend using flameless candles when you're using these holders and the 'wreaths'. I don't want anyone's home burning down.

Step 1: Grab Those Supplies!

For this DIY, here are the things you'll need:

-Tissue paper in fall colors

-Glass jars

-Tracing paper

-Tacky glue

-Scissors

-Paint brush

-Container

-Clear sealer

-Scissors

-Pencil

-Craft knife

-Card stock

Step 2: Jar It!

Whoops! That doesn't have the same ring to it as "Can it!" does. Heh.

...Anywho, grab your jars and clean them. I just raided my recycling bin for these. They held pasta sauce in a previous life. In this one they're destined for greatness. ;) Soak them in really hot water for about an hour to remove the labels. This also softens the glue so you can scrub or scrape it right off. If you have Goo-Gone, this step is a lot easier. Let them dry.

Step 3: Like Paper and Glue

Grab your Mod Podge and put some into a container. If you don't have Mod Podge, regular white Elmer's glue will work just as well. Just add a couple drops of water to thin it out. Cut pieces to fit on your jars and glue it on carefully. Let it dry completely before continuing.

Step 4: Tracin' You

Haha.

Now grab your tracing paper and cut it to fit your jars. I drew two different leaves for the yellow one and a funny looking gourd and a pumpkin for the orange one. Cut pieces of card stock to fit the tracing paper and transfer the drawings to the card stock. Cut them out and glue them onto the candle holders.

Step 5: Just Sealin' It!

Now cut more tissue and glue it over the silhouettes. Let that dry and them seal the candle holders with the clear sealer. Pop in a fake tea light and enjoy! ;)

Step 6: Don't Leaf Just Yet! ;)

I thought this little 'wreath' was a lovely complement for these candle holders. :)

Step 7: Surrounded by Materials

Here are the things you need for the 'wreath' :

-Paperboard

-Scissors

-Pencil

-Fake leaves

-Tissue paper

-Corrugated cardboard

-Tacky glue

-Mod Podge

-Round things to trace

Step 8: Just Tracin' Around

Grab your round objects and trace around them onto the paperboard and the cardboard. You should have two paperboard circles and one corrugated circle when you're done. Cut them out carefully and glue them together. Make sure the corrugated circle is in the middle. You can use anything round for this part but just make sure it's not too small or too big.

Step 9: Tissue Paper Extravaganza

Grab your tissue paper and cut a strip. Glue one end to your ring and wrap it around, gluing as you go. Now grab your paperboard and cut a strip long enough to go around your ring and glue the tissue onto it. This gives the fake leaves a bit of support so they don't lean inward too much.

Step 10: Leaf Sealin' and Good Feelin'

Grab a fine paintbrush and some glue. Go around the outer edges of your leaves with a fine line of glue. This helps stop the leaves from fraying. Repeat this until you have enough leaves to go around the 'wreath'.

Step 11: Leaf Your Troubles Behind

Hah. These puns, they just don't stop! :D

Now grab your embroidery thread and cut pieces long enough to go around the leaves and tie a bow. Pop in a candle holder and a fake candle and enjoy!

...I also realized after I did this bonus DIY that the wreaths look better with a small glass candle holder in them than they do with the other ones. That's okay though, this is still festive. :)
