Introduction: DIY Flower Headbands
You know how the song goes "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair". Now, you can do just that by wearing some flowers around your head, like a headband! Thanks to Bethany Mota's original flower headband craft, you can add some color to your next spring or summer gathering by channeling your inner hippie or flower child, as some people say!
This is the link that I went to for flower headband inspiration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Fwzhj7zBjk
Step 1: Material List
This is a very simple list of materials you will need to make your own flower headbands
- fake flowers, you can use big or small flowers (I usually get mine from the Dollar Store; you can do the same thing, or go to your local floral or craft store)
- elastic, thin or wide (I bought mine from the Dollar Store)
- hot glue gun
- scissors
Step 2: Prepare Your Elastic
First things first. Start off by measuring the length of elastic you want for your headband. My suggestion: wrap the elastic around your head and cut where it overlaps.
Once that's done, you're going to hot glue just the edges together.
Step 3: Add Flowers
Now, you're going to add some funky color, by cutting off your fake flowers and hot gluing them around the elastic. You can do a pattern, a color scheme or something totally abstracted!
Step 4: Ready to Wear!
Once the glue is dry, your flower headband is ready to wear! You can make one of these for a spring recital, a summer party, or a costume, like a 60s hippie, Hawaiian Luau Dancer or Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Sugar Skull! Or, maybe you're planning your next vacation to Hawaii or Florida, maybe for a summer or beach themed-wedding! Either way, it's a great way to add flower power to any time of the year!
P.S. The second picture that you see features another flower headband I've made a while ago. Same concept, but with a Luau themed effect! Perfect for your next beach wedding in Hawaii or a Luau dance recital!
