Introduction: DIY Hairpin Legs Table Makeover
Hi Instructables! I think this is my first time sharing a furniture makeover here and I am so excited about how I updated this old side table using paint, stain, and new legs. I hope you enjoy this quick and easy tutorial.

Step 1: Prep
I cleaned the side table set using a TSP substitute with water combined in a spray bottle. I wiped it thoroughly with a sponge, rinsed it off with clear water, and wiped it down again, leaving it with no residue.
Step 2: Removing the Hardware and Filling It With Putty
My plan was to turn the tables length-wise and add the hairpin legs for a modern look. Since it has old hardware pulls, I removed them and fill them with all-purpose putty, and then sanded them for a smooth finish.
Step 3: Sanding the Entire Table
Before staining and painting the tables, I gave it a good scuff sanding to ensure the adhesion of the stain and paint.
Step 4: Stain
The top and side panels were stained with two coats of Walnut color oil-based stain.
Step 5: Making a Jig(Optional)
I recognize that making this a jig intimidated me at first, but definitely, this tool made the hairpin leg attachment much easier.
Step 6: Adding the Hairpin Leg
I installed the hairpin legs by placing them evenly on each corner, then drilled holes for easy screwing.
Step 7: Paint
Painted the table with deep black All-In-One Mineral Paint. This saved me a huge amount of time as it doesn't need any primer and topcoat.
Step 8: Finished Look!
Here is the finished look of the Hairpin Legs Table Makeover! The contrast of the warm wood finish against the gorgeous black gives a modern look paired with the hairpin legs. Love it! I hope you enjoyed my first furniture makeover tutorial here on Instructables.
