Introduction: DIY Hanging Planter Made From Hand-Rolling-Plastic-Tobacco-bag

About: #Creative#Maker#Inquiring#DIYlover

In this instructable, I have made vertical planters from the used hand-rolling-plastic-tobacco-bag.

This project is modular, so you can choose the amount of bags depending on the number of compartments you want to create.

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a vertical planter with 3 compartments.

Supplies

  1. Hand-rolling-plastic-tobacco-bag x 3
  2. Plastic fastening rivets x 6
  3. Wood stick/bamboo skewer

Tools

  1. Marker
  2. Ruler
  3. Scissors
  4. Hole punch plier

Step 1: Upper Bag

First, mark 6 drain holes at 2,2 cm distance (green references)

Then mark the points for the holes at 1 cm distance per side as shown in the image (red references).

Mark the cutting reference at 2 cm distance from the pouch edge and toward the center at 6,7cm (black references).

Finally, mark a cutting line at 4cm from the pouch edge (black reference).

Step 2: Central Bag

First, mark 6 drain holes at 2,2 cm distance (green references).

Then mark 4 points for the holes at 1 cm distance per side as shown in the image (red references).

!This step should be duplicated a number of times equal to the number of modules you want to add!

Step 3: Lower Bag

First, mark 6 drain holes at 2,2 cm distance (green references).

Then mark 2 points for the holes at 1 cm distance per side as shown in the image (red references).

Step 4: Cutting

Cut the upper pouch along the previously marked line.

Fold the bag along the references to 2cm marked previously, then cut the central hole.

Step 5: Punching

Make the holes in it with an hole punch plier.

Step 6: Upper Bag Assembly

Insert the male fastener inside the upper holes and lock the female on the back side of the pouch.

Slide the stick along the created seat.

Step 7: Central and Lower Bag Assembly Bag Assembly

Insert the male fastener inside the lower holes and add the central pouch behind the upper pouch.

Lock the female on the back side of the assembly.

Repeat this step for the bottom bag.

Step 8: Your Planter Is Ready!

You can add the soil and plants you want.

I advise you to choose plants that need little water and soil like succulents or you can use it as a small seedling for aromatic plants =>

Step 9: Suggestions

When I had a balcony I created a small wall planter to feed the pollinators :)
