Hi there DIY enthousiasts!

I found these photos of an old project of mine on my PC, so I thought why not share a tutorial with you guys? ;)
I made my lamp look like redstone ore, because redstone is the only real glowing ore in Minecraft.

Materials needed for this project:

White LED strip with power supply
Female power jack
Switch
Hobby glue
Hot glue
Tin foil
Square (shoe) box
(red) Paper. You could also use e.g. light blue for diamond
Minecraft stone texture printed onto paper
Tape

Step 1: Applying the Tin Foil

To apply the tin foil use a fair amount of hobby glue toe glue the tin foil to the inside of the bottom part of the box.
Now place the tin foil over top and use something like a credit card to smoothen the surface of the foil.

Now grab a sharp knife and cut around the corners to get rid of any excess tin foil.

Step 2: Applying the Stone Texture to the Box

Cut out the printed stone texture so it fits the dimensions of the box.

Now grab the top part of the box and apply hobby glue to the top.
Once you have enough glue on top fold a piece of paper multiple times and even out the glue. Make sure there is glue everywhere!

Once you're done gluing the texture to the box you can wrap the sides of the box with duct tape.

Step 3: Cutting Light Holes

Alright, now it's time to determine where you want your holes to be.

You don't have to follow the exact pattern of a Minecraft ore, but make sure not to overdo the cutting job.

After you've cut your holes you can glue the (red) paper into the inside of the box. Make sure not to spill any glue, since you will see it in the end. You could use some tape to secure the paper.

Step 4: Adding the Electronics

Tape the LED strip into the box. I taped mine a little more to the top since I thought it would give it a nicer look, but in the end it doesn't matter where you tape it.

Make sure the cables are in a good spot so you won't have any problems soldering afterwards.

Once the LED strip is secure you can cut out holes for the switch and female jack. Once you're sure the holes are big enough you can start soldering.

You have to solder one of the cables of the LED strip to the female jack and the other to the switch. Now you should be left with one unsoldered pin on your jack and one on your switch. Solder those together using any excess wire and hot glue everything in place.

Step 5: Finishing Your Project

In this final step we will be poking a hole into the back of the box. Make sure the hole is in the center, otherwise your light won't hang horizontal.

Now grab the top lid and mark where the switch and female jack are. Cut these parts out of the top and put the box back together.

Once everything is back together your project is done! Now all that's left is to find a good spot to mount it and connect your power supply.
