DIY NO SEW High Waist Bikini in 5 Minutes
Intro: DIY NO SEW High Waist Bikini in 5 Minutes
I've been looking all over the internet for the perfect high waist bikini. I mean all over. I've Googled them, looked on Etsy, and scrolled endlessly on Pinterest and found.... nothing.
Then I came across this video on Youtube from Piece of Cheap Cake and my mind was blown!
WHOA!
I had to try it!
STEP 1: What You Need
A one piece swimsuit. I bought 4 of them from a local thrift shop for a $1 a swimsuit.
Scissors
A Marker
STEP 2: Put Swimsuit on Inside Out and Draw Your Cut Line
1. Put the swimsuit on inside out
2. Draw a line 1-2" above your belly button with your marker.
If your swimsuit has a low back, I would suggest laying your swimsuit flat and cutting right below the lowest part of the back line.
STEP 3: Lay Suit Flat and Cut
3. Take the suit off. Lay it flat. Cut the swimsuit in half.
NOTE: Make sure it's laying flat you don't wan't any weird jagged cuts.
STEP 4: Put the Suit on and Fold Over Raw Edges
4. Put the suit on and tuck in the raw edges.
If you want to hem the suit, make sure you use a zig-zag stitch.
STEP 5: YOU'RE FINISHED!!
Now how easy was that?
Think about how many bathing suits you can have now!
ENJOY and Happy Crafting!

It is not a lot of work to sew it, actually! Then it would really stay where you want it and you could even swim in it!
just sew what you folded under and pull elastic in the same width through. The seam should be stretched during sewing so it doesn’t break later when you stretch it to get in and out of it

This is amazing! I just created it in probably 5 minutes. And since it was a small suit on me, I didn't even have to fold the edges up. This is the best thing ever and even saved me 30-40 dollars

You are welcome! Nothing better than getting a suit for $2-$4 bucks at the thrift store and turning it into the suit you really want!

Absolutely great write up, and well crafted project. Although I hope that high waist anythings never come back in to style! ( I fear I am too late...)

What a great job you did - and wonderful idea to fix up a one piece. I have a one-piece that is SO cute but too small (not long enough surprisingly-as I am so short) and I will do this!!!
