Introduction: DIY Passport Sweet 16 Invites

Having a Sweet Sixteen Party can be very expensive so I decided to save my parents some money and do DIY Passport Invitations. These are simple and one of the least expensive options out there, to get these printed out you can go to your local Sam's Club or any other place that prints out picture fast and efficiently.

All you need is the following:

  1. Microsoft Word
  2. LunaPic Photo Editor (It's free)
  3. Google Images
  4. Patience

So let's get started!!!

Step 1: Step 1 Change the Orientation of the Paper

Open your microsoft word, if you have version 2013 click on the 'page layout' tab and change the the paper from portrait to landscape. Keep the size as 'letter' or if you want you can customize it to your preference click on the more sizes.

Step 2: Step 2 Change the Color of Your Paper

Click on the 'design' tab and then go on to 'page color' to change the color of your paper. I decided to go with a dark navy blue to give my guest an experience of a passport but you can always make it very fun and even add a gradient effect by going to 'fill effects'

Step 3: Step 3: Find Stamps and U.S Emblem and Match Your Font

This step is actually two in one because you will use both google images and lunapic editor. You will be using the lunapic to make the images you find have transparent backgrounds to help your passport invites look super duper cool. It did take a long time to find the stamps and emblem I was looking for but you can always look for the specific ones you want as well.

To make your background transparent just upload your image on Luna Pic and click on the transparent editor that's located under the 'edit' tab.

You can proceed to place your desired country emblem on the cover on the right hand side. You can also start to type what you want on the cover and use the font you want, for my invites (navy blue) I used Times New Roman and Monotype Corsiva. To change the font go on the 'home' tab.

Step 4: Step 4 Work on the Inside of Your Invitations

Open up a blank document and repeat step one and two but now you can add your stamps that you made transparent in step 3 on the left hand side. This really makes your invites look very cool and authentic. You then can add the information you want to put on the inside of your invites and make it as pretty as you want.

The page color I went to 'fill effects' again and instead of doing gradient effect I used the texture effect in stationery.

Step 5: Step 5 Print It Out!

Print it out at Sam's Club, Walgreens or CVS (any place that prints out pictures in your desired material),

Put it together using an adhesive or doll it up how you like.

I decided to double side print it at the local print shop.

My friends were highly impressed with my invites and had a fun time at the party. As soon as I can I will post the pictures. I used a matte gloss cardstock.
