In this Instructable I will teach you to make a very simple Pyramid to watch 3D hologram videos on your smartphone or tablet. All you need for this is some stationary and few minutes of time. It's a great item to your Halloween decorations! You can gift it to your loving one !

Step 1: How It Works ?

It works on the principle of "Pepper’s Ghost". Four symmetrically opposite variations of the same image are projected on to the four faces of the pyramid. By principle of Optics ( An object in a mirror will appear to stand as far inside the mirror as it is away from the mirrors surface) , each side projects the image falling on it, to the centre of the pyramid. The 4 projections combined to form a whole figure which creates a 3D image.

Step 2: Tools and Materials Need

1. Graph Paper ( Amazon )

2. Clear Plastic ( Packing Box , OHP Sheets etc )

3. Clear Tape ( Amazon )

4. Scissor ( Amazon )

5. Ruler ( Amazon )

6.Pencil ( Amazon )

7. Smartphone ( Amazon )

Step 3: Make the Templates

Draw a trapezium with size 60mm x 35mm x 10mm.

1. Draw a vertical straight line on the graph paper

2. Mark two dots at 3cm right and left from the vertical line. Then join them .( Base of the Trapezium )

3. Mark a dot on the vertical line 35mm above the base line

4.Draw a 10mm line parallel to base. Then Join them to make the complete Trapezium.

5. Cut out the templates with some margin on each sides.

Now your Template is ready.

Step 4: Make 4 Trapezium Shapes

I used a clear plastic box for making the Pyramid Surfaces.

Stick the Template on the Clear Sheet. I used scotch tape to stick it.

Then Cut out the marked portion by using a scissor.

Repeat the above process to make remaining three shapes

Step 5: Join the 4 Shapes

Place the 4 shapes as shown in the above picture.

Join the four edges to form a pyramid shape.

Stick them together by using clear tape.

Now you have made yourself a hologram pyramid !

Step 6:

Open the Holographic Videos in your smart phone.

You can directly play it from YouTube. Here is the link.

Place the hologram pyramid in the middle of your phone screen like shown in the above pictures.

Align properly to get good result.

Don’t forget to switch off the lights in the room before you start playing the video.

Enjoy !!!

Tip 2 years ago on Step 3

To obtain the exact measurements to cut for your specific device, you can bust out your calculator and multiply the width (the shorter dimension) of your screen by √2.

The "why" this works is because we are targeting a 45-45-90 right triangle. Precalculus: it's more than just school subject fodder!
