DIY Sugar Skull

Skull of choice (I used a female cow)

Spray paint primer,Regular spray paint (colors of choice) $7-$9 per can (note: if you're under 18 in certain states you may need a parent or guardian to help purchase this item) Acrylic paint, fine tip paint brush (colors of choice) average color bundle with brushes $10-$12 1-6ft battery powered Christmas light/ string light $7-$10

Step 1: ​1.Step One Primer Spray

Skull of choice real or fate (cleaned) I would recommend to do this step outside or a garage setting as the smell of spray paint lingers and not to mention its messy.

1.Spray first layer of primer, then wait about ten minutes

2.Spray second layer of primer with same color then wait ten to 20 minutes depending on size of skull and amount sprayed(I would recommend you wait a couple hours or even a day to come back too this if you have a large skull)

Step 2: ​2. Step Two Regular Light Spray

1.after your primer has dried it's time for the secondary spray (i used a light single spray of metallic spray) First grab your regular spray then step back about 4-5ft and spray lightly in the area you would like to apply it.

2. wait about 5 to 10 minutes too dry

3. step three Painting your design

This step is a kind of a sandbox depending on what you would like to paint on your skull.I personally took the inspiration of sugar skulls from day of the dead along with aztec patterns. This step is also pretty self explanatory paint wait to dry paint wait...rinse and repeat, until your desired pattern is complete

Step 3: ​3. Step Three Painting Your Design

Step 4: ​4.) Step Three Lights

This step is also all up too personal choice, you choose to have the lights strung around the skull or have them hidden. I chose to have them hidden and by this it's depending on the skull. If its a large mammal like cow ,boar, horse, ext… you can easily weave your lights throughout where the cartilage of where the nose would been or through the back of the skull where there is an opening
