Introduction: DIY Wax Wood Finish
This is a simple mixture of oil and wax that can be applied to wood for a light protective finish that retains the wood's natural look.
Supplies: beeswax, coconut oil, aluminum foil, scale, and a vessel for heating. I used an old bread pan on my stove top on low.
Note any temperatures on your labels, as this wax can become more fluid when stored at higher temperatures.
Step 2: Melt Beeswax
Smaller pieces will melt faster but if it is too difficult to cut, melt it slowly as one block. I used 1 part wax and 1 part oil, the wax weighed 1 lb.
Step 3: Add Oil 1:1
Add the coconut oil and continue to heat on low until it all melts.
Remove from the heat and allow it to cool for a few hours before use. Apply to a clean cloth and rub it into the wood surface, wipe off any excess.
