DIYer HALLOWEEN COSTUME

While this DIYer Halloween Costume might look intimidating to make, I have broken it down into simple steps.

Step 1: MATERIALS

You will need a dust mask, safety goggles or safety glasses, a chapeau of your choice, and a Sharpie; use the color of your choice.

Step 2: PERHAPS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART

This is perhaps the most difficult and intricate part of this Instructable. I will go slowly. First, decide the character you wish to portray. I've selected a feline and used my cat Smoochy as a model. I really suggest using some sort of model for drawing your face as leaving it up to guesswork can lead to disastrous results. Second, draw an isosceles triangle with the apex pointing down. Gently add a slight curve to the top of the triangle. Now color it in being extremely careful to color within the lines. Whew! I know. Not easy. Next, draw the mouth. This should resemble either an anchor (I was in the Navy and was able to use this idea once I re-looked at what an anchor looked like). Or fish hooks. Bear with me. I know this ain't easy. We're almost done. You may add a little cup at the bottom on the anchor to represent a mouth. Or lips. Lastly, draw three dots on either side of the anchor to represent from where whiskers sprout. I found this part difficult since Smoochy is Chimeric and half her whiskers are black and half white. If you, too, find this difficult and have access to a compass, you can use that to evenly space your whisker sprouting spots. Thanks for staying with me this far. Now for the home stretch.

Step 3: FAILED ATTEMPTS

Please use a model to draw your face. Here are my failed attempts thinking I could do it without using my Smoochy's visage.

Step 4: DON YOUR DIYER APPAREL

Put your costume on in this order: mask, glasses, hat. Now step back, gaze into a mirror and admire your work. You may add to this costume the tool of your choice to carry with you to set you apart from all the other DIYers who'll surely be copying this marvelous costume idea.

How long do you think it would take me to make one as a beginner?

I certainly don't want to discourage you, Randofo, but recent time trials have novices clocking in at 1.37 hours. I suggest practicing drawing the face on separate paper first. By doing that you can speed up the assembly time. Good luck. --Kink--

Sadly, MFK, my dear, your expertise is food and eatables, and in time trials with personages of your ilk, some have clocked in at over 3 hours. Some as much as 3.47 but no more than 4.09 or 4.24 --well, at most 4.69 but not more than 5.12 or 5.17 at most....not more than 5.33, though.....

Sure, you're young, vibrant, the perfect candidate for my sister-wife, probably a savant, too, but me ...ME! I'm still trying to figure out my flip phone. If you or anyone else ever wants to try in the future, it's the easiest IMO on a smartphone with the Actiondirector app, I edit all of my videos with it.
Film each part individually (start with a small project because this can be tedious in the beginning) then the editing app combines all of the short videos into one long one. You can then speed up the action by 2-8x the speed with a click of a button. Then you export the video and send it straight to Youtube!
It's the most user-friendly app, confusing in the beginning, but then it's always the same repetitive actions which are what makes editing long videos to boring!!

A smartphone is a box with a screen, that people look at while walking, occasionally causing them to crash into poles. It's fun to watch!

Hmmm, yes, I've seen people with these new-fangled thingamabobs. My Cell Phone flips open and has numbers 1 through 0 and letters in each number and is the rotary dial type. Names and numbers appear in that little flip-up screen. And it doesn't get texts. But what you are talking about sound like fun to watch--people walking into things.
