Introduction: Dairy-free, Chocolate-free Hot Cocoa
Sometimes you just want the taste of hot cocoa, but you can't (or won't) consume dairy and/or chocolate. This recipe is a pretty good substitute - warming and delicious.
Ingredients:
Variations can include:
- a dash or two of cinnamon
- a dash of cayenne pepper

- 1.5 tbsp raw carob powder
- 1 mug full of milk-like substance (soy milk, almond milk, etc.)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp honey (optional - the carob is pretty sweet on its own)

Since real chocolate is toxic to dogs (and cats), carob is used in some dog treats.

Nice recipe but for those who don't want to use any milk whatsoever, you can do a milk-free version of chocolate milk.

This sounds really good! I love Almond milk, but I have never heard of Carob powder. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

Indeed! It's helpful if you're using homeopathy and can't have chocolate, among other reasons.
