Horchata is well know as a popular drink that is cold and refreshing, perfect for those hot days coming up. It is one of the healthiest drinks you could ever find. Are you thirsty? Cause I am come on lets go buy horchata!

Materials:

  • 1 cup of White Rice
  • 2 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 vanilla extract
  • 2 evaporated milk
  • 1/2 whole milk
  • 1/2 gallon of water
  • Medium size Pitcher
  • Blender
  • Wire Srainer

Step 1: Soaking Materials

Place 1/2 water and the 2 piece of cinnamon in a pitcher or bowl with the 1 cup of white rice and let everthing soak for 30 minutes. This will help later when blending, rice will be nice and soft and easy to blend. The cinnam on stick will give the water a refreshing and sweet taste.

Step 2: Grinding Time

Gring rice using blender, blend cinnamon stick with rice in a medium speed for 1-2 minutes until finely ground. Rice should be pureed enough that it doesnt look to thick or to thin. if you dont blend the rice well when you go to drink it youre going to taste the thickness of the water and its not going to tastes as good. You want to have that texture of between thick and thin.

Step 3: Repeat

Repeat step 2 twice. Use the same rice and the same amount of water every time. This will help get more liquid. After you are done with this step, throw away leftover rice. This will help you stay clean, rice tends to get messy after blending.

Step 4: Separate Materials

strain rice and water into the medium size pitcher. Be carefu when doing this step, rice will fall into the water but dont let a lot of rice go into the water. Some people let rice into the water but preferably not.

Step 5: Add Materials

Into the rice water add 1/2 whole milk. Some people prefer fat free milk so its not to thick. But which ever is the best for you. Milk adds that thickness to the water.

Step 6: Add More Materials

Add 1 spoon of vanilla extract into the rice water. Vanilla helps the water sweeeten up.

Step 7: More Adding

Add 2/3 of sugar into water. If water is not sweet enough, add more sugar till you think its sweet enough. But be careful not to make it too sweet to the point that the water tastes to thick and slimy.

Step 8:

Add the 2 evaporated milk to the water. The evaporated milk helps water get its flavor ( optional).

Step 9:

Stir water till sugar is dissolved. The sugar also helps the water get its flavor. If sugar is not dissolved enough the sugar will sit at the bottom and when its time to serve the water will tastes like it doesnt have anyflavor.

Step 10: Almost There

Stir before serving. Sugar tends to sit and the bottom after a while so stir it so the sugar combines with the water.

Step 11: Enjoy!!!

Enjoy the refreshing drink!!. You can also try putting cinnamon at the top of the drink so it gives it more of the cinnamon flavor.
