Intro: Yummy Healthy Gummi Bears

If you have kindergarten children, autumn might be the season of cough and runny nose in your house. We fight the cold by doping ourselves with our own fruit in summer and continue with it in September as much as we can. Once we run out of our own fruit, we get oranges and anything that keeps our vitamin C levels up. Sometimes I like to make the vitamin intake more fun by giving it a form that is attractive to children, for example the form of gummy bears.

STEP 1: Ingredients and Tools

You can make them from basically anything that you can turn into liquid. Here are the ingredients for my 4 favorite recipes:

1. Banana and tangerine

- 1 big banana
- 40 ml of tangerine juice
- 3 tbsp of gelatin

2. Green tea with honey

- 1 cup of strong green tea
- 1 full tbsp of honey

3. Orange

- juice from 2 oranges

4. Lemon with honey

- juice from 2 lemons
- 1 tbsp of honey

Where I don’t give you the amount of gelatin, use twice as much gelatin as is the gelatin : liquid ratio on the package.

You will also need:

- silicon mold for gummy bears or ice cubes
- dropper

STEP 2:

First blend, melt and mix well all the ingredients except for the gelatin. Then place the mixture in a saucepan and heat it (don’t boil). Stir until the gelatin in completely dissolved. (picture 1)

Let the mixture cool down just a little, not too much because we don’t want it to solidify yet. Use the dropper to fill the form. Then let the mixture cool down completely and then place it in the fridge for at least one hour. (picture 2)

Push the bears carefully out of the mold and enjoy! (pictures 3 - 5)

Yummy. Would apple juice and cinnamon work or grapejuice with currents in, or something yucky like toothpaste flavour?. I would need to make three lots per movie.☺
I'm sure all of those would work, you just might need to adjust the amoint of gelatine. If yoi use fresh juice from green apples (or slightly unripe or a greed variety), you need less gelatine than when using red apples. With currant you definitely need less because this fruit gels nicely by itself. And please let me know how those toothpaste bears tasted!:D
I love this idea! I want to try orange juice and apple juice ones :)
What a great idea! I never would have thought to make gummies this fancy :)
