Introduction: Delicious Oats&nuts Cake

In this instructable I'll try to show you how to make this delicious cake. I've made this cake numerous times and also shared the recipe with colleagues and family and all were enthousiastic about it. So time to share it with the instructable community.

Although this cake is free from any artifical or refined sweeteners, additives, refined fats etc. It does contain a fair number of calories.

The total of this cake is about 2900-3000 calories

  • 297 gram carbohydrates (1188 calories)
  • 138 gram fat (1242 calories)
  • 98 gram protein (392 calories)

Usually from one cake about 12 slices can be taken which is then approx 240 Calories per slice eq. to 3 slices of whole wheat bread.

Enough about calories! lets get started!

Step 1: Get Your Ingredients and Tools Together

Okay lets get started to get your ingredients together.

  1. 150ml water (alternatively soy or almond milk)
  2. 4 eggs
  3. 2 bananas
  4. 1 apple
  5. 275 gram oats
  6. 30 grams broken flax seed
  7. 200 grams mixed nuts and raisins
  8. Cinnamon
  9. Baking soda or baking powder
  1. Table spoon
  2. Cake mould 25cm
  3. Food mixer
  4. Scale
  5. Large bowl or jug
  6. Oven 160 degrees

Step 2: Start Mixing the First Ingredients

Mix the water, 4 eggs and 2 (sliced) bananas together in the bowl untill you get a creamy fluffy substance

Step 3: Start Adding More!

Once you have the desired fluffy substance add:

  • about 10 grams of cinnamon (or more if you like)
  • The 275 gram oats
  • 30 grams flax seeds
  • 200 gram mixed nuts and raisins
  • Apple

Mix this all shortly till all has been properly mixed.

Then add 2 table spoons of baking soda or 2 spoons of baking powder (see picture for the size of spoon I'm using)

Now you should have a complete unidentifiable substance :) that is not fluid but also not solid. It should be able to roll throught the bowl like lava

Step 4: Poor It In

Now you can poor the substance into the mould. I'm using a silicone one. If you use a steel or aluminium one it is strongly advisable to make a lining of baking paper because the cake WILL stick regardless a non stick coating.

Put the cake in the hot air oven for about 45 minutes at 160 degrees. If you are using a Microwave convection it is 1 hour at 180 degrees. I'm sorry but I don't have gas oven references... :(

Enjoy, and remember, this recipe is only a guide. feel free to add, remove or complete turn the list of ingredients upside down!
