Introduction: Demigod Disks

Making: Demigod Disks or Disk (two ways one is for people who want easy grab and go and the other is for people more rushed for time who don't mind less evenly proportioned food).

Tools: Oven mits, mixing bowl, 1 Cup measurer, 1 tbsp measurer, 1tsp measurer, 1/2 tsp measurer, 12 capacity muffin tin or Large pyrex glass bowl, fork, and a large spoon.

Ingredients: 2 cups Egg whites

6 eggs

1 can of canned chicken

Spices of your choice, displayed are cinnamin, salt and pepper. Salt and pepper for a saltier egg and cinnamon for those with more of a sweet tooth. For this example I will use salt (1/2tsp) and black pepper (1tsp). (Note: onions can also be included.)

Directions:

Make sure nothing is in the oven.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick Way to make (Large Demigod Disk):

Spray pyrex bowl with Pam or similar nonstick baking spray, or use a small amount of butter or baking oil to lubricate the bowl for easier removal of the baked dish.

Measure out two cups of egg whites and add to large pyrex bowl

Open can of chicken, rinse and drain with hot water, then add to pyrex bowl

Add 6 eggs (or an additional cup of egg whites) to pyrex bowl

Add Salt and Pepper

Use fork to carefully whisk

Once oven is preheated place inside for 40-70 minutes (start at 40" and work up in increments of 10 until the dish is solid.)

Remove from oven but keep oven on

Check for doneness by inserting a knife down the middle of the dish and if still very moist or liquid return for 1-2 sets of 10". If mostly dry and resembles scrambled eggs (moist-ish but holds form easily) either return for 5" to be sure or cut rest of dish into eighths.

Step 1: For More Proportioned Servings (or Those Less Pressed for Time and More Pressed for Precision)

Identical to how to make previous except for not baking in the mixing bowl, instead, a large spoon (ladle, etc) can be used to pour the mixture into a greased cupcake pan.

Mini Demigod Disks:

Directions:

  1. Make sure nothing is in the oven.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Spray muffin tin with Pam or similar nonstick baking spray, or use a small amount of butter or baking oil to lubricate it for easier removal of the baked dish.
  4. Measure out two cups of egg whites and add to large mixing bowl
  5. Open can of chicken, rinse and drain with hot water, then add to bowl
  6. Add 6 eggs (or an additional cup of egg whites) to bowl
  7. Add Salt and Pepper (I added 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper, but add what is comfortable for you)
  8. Use fork to carefully whisk
  9. Use spoon or ladle (or if brave can try pouring but unless your mixing bowl has a spout I would not recommend this personally) to put mixture into 12 muffin spots
  10. Once oven is preheated place inside for 30" to an hour (start at 30" and work up in increments of 5" until the dish is solid.)
  11. Remove from oven but keep oven on
  12. Check for doneness by inserting a knife down the middle of the a muffin and if still very moist or liquidy on the inside return for 1-2 sets of 5". If mostly dry and resembles scrambled eggs (moist-ish but holds form easily) either return for 5" to be sure or remove demigod disks and place in a refrigerator worthy container or consume.

There you have it! You've made the fabled Demigod Disks! (Sounds a bit more interesting than Baked Egg Dish if you ever decide to talk about food you've made with someone ;)
