Introduction: 🌸Denim Crop Top🌸
We all have a pair of old jeans stuffed somewhere in our closet, me included! In this simple tutorial, I will show you how to repurpose those jeans into a denim crop top. Let's get started!
Supplies
old jeans
sewing machine
7 inch zipper (ngl I got mine from Walmart)
thread
pins
measuring tape
scissors
basic sewing knowledge
just a heads up; I only use a running stitch in this tutorial
Step 1: Measurements
These are all of the measurements you will need. When I reference each letter in future steps feel free to check back here to look over which measurement is required.
a: measure from your under arm across you bust to your other underarm.
b: measure from the lowest point in the sweetheart neckline (where do you want it to lay) to the waist
c: measure from the highest point in the sweetheart neckline to the waist
d: waist measurement
e: measure from your underarm across your back to your other underarm.
Step 2: Cutting the Pieces
Divide measurement a by 2, this will be our front piece bust measurement. Divide d by 4, this will be our front piece waist measurement. On a leg of the jeans, sketch out our new bust measurement, waist measurement, c, and d. Draw lines to connect the measurements. Make room for seam allowance. Take e measurement. Divide this in half, it will be the width of your back piece. Make 2.
Step 3: Sewing
Sew the front pieces together and sew the back pieces to the fronts. (Shown in picture 1). Hem the top of the denim garment. Add a zipper to the back. Personally I liked the frayed look on the bottom of the crop top, so I stitched 1/2 inches above the raw edge to keep it from fraying.
Step 4: The Finale
That's the end of the tutorial, a lot shorter than some of my other instructables I must say! I hope it was fun to follow along and make sure to ask any questions!
