Introduction: Designer Clock 30cm

this is simple one day build. idea for the shape came from pienterest i think. its made out of birch.

Supplies

  • laser cutter (to mark out specific shapes)
  • Optional: jointer and planer (if you prefer to make it from scratch)
  • A solid wood panel (birch is a suitable choice)
  • A clock mechanism (you can find examples of clock mechanisms on here)

Step 1: Glue the Panel

Using a jointer and planer, I get the panel to be 16mm thick so that the mechanism can stick out a little.

Step 2: Laser Cut the Clock Design.

Step 3: Cut the Clock Design

Cut close to the circle using a jigsaw or bandsaw. Then, use a sander to get it to the final size.

Step 4: Make Space for the Clock Mechanism

Use a Forstner bit to remove the most material. Then, use a chisel to clean it off. Make sure that the screw has enough space.

Step 5: Finish

I think I used somekind of beewax. Tip: Don't put too much, or the clock will get a little darker.

Step 6: Ready

Now it's ready. Now you can give yourself a pat on the back and hang the clock on the wall.
