This is a fantastic prank that will only take a few minutes to set up. It will appear that your victims computer has locked up frozen on the desktop screen. No matter how many times they try to click on an icon, nothing will happen.

Step 1:

Step1 - Take ascreen shot of your victims desktop. This is accomplished by using the Print Screen key located here.

Step 2:

Step 2 - Now open a new word document and right click and paste the image. Save this image so that you can choose to set it as the desktop background image later.

Step 3:

Step 3 - Right click on your desktop and select "view", now remove the checkmark next to "show desktop icons" this will hide all of the icons on the desktop. To bring them back again after the prank is over just reselect "show desktop icons" and viola! the icons are back like they were never gone.

Step 4:

Step 4 - Now right click on your tool bar and choose properties. Now pin the tool bar to the right side of the screen and select to automatically hide it. Your desktop should now appear empty with only the background picture.

***Note - Some people put their desktop icons on the right hand side of the screen. The purpose of moving the tool bar is so that they will not move the cursor close to its location or it will become visible. In a case like that, just move it to the top or the opposite side of the screen of where the majority of their icons are.

Step 5:

Step 5 - Now open the image of the screen shot that you saved in step 2 and right click on it and choose to set it as your desktop background. It will appear that all of the icons are back as well as the tool bar. Since it is only an image your victim will not be able to click on any of them. The only thing that may give away the joke is the time on the clock will be wrong. Most people don't even notice it though. They will be absolutely baffled at what is wrong with their computer. Just sit back and enjoy the show,
