Introduction: Dinner in a Jack-o'-lantern
A savory stuffed pumpkin with a Halloween flare.
Step 1: Ingredients
Pie pumpkin
Sharp cheese (I use bleu)
Stuffing Mix
Sausage
Chicken Broth
Step 2: Open and Clean the Pumpkin
Take a washed pumpkin, slice a lid into the top with a knife.
Clean out the membrane and seeds.
Step 3: Fry the Sausage
Fry the sausage and drain the grease.
Step 4: Mix the Stuffing Ingredients
Add the drained sausage, cheese, and stuffing mix together.
Step 5: Fill the Pumpkin
Take the cleaned pumpkin, add the stuffing mixture, and pack very tightly.
Step 6: Add the Broth
Pour broth in slowly until no more can be absorbed.
Step 7: Lid the Pumpkin and Put It in the Oven
Put the lid on the pumpkin. Let it sit loosely on the top.
Put the pumpkin on a cookie sheet and slid it into the oven.
Step 8: Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for about one and a half hours.
If your pumpkin is bigger, the best way to tell if it's done is to poke a fork into the side. Once it goes in easily, the pumpkin is ready
Step 9: Carve the Baked Pumpkin Into a Jack-o'-lantern
The next step is just carving a jack-o'-lantern into the baked pumpkin.
Step 10: Cut and Serve
After everyone has admired your clever meal, carve into wedges and serve.
A small pumpkin serves four.
