Intro: Dipole Antenna for 2 4 Ghz Wifi

Dipole antennas are simple to construct and can be used in many applications. In this video I will show you how to construct a dipole antenna for the 2.4GHz spectrum. Dipole antennas are normally ½ wave but I will show you how to build a dipole greater than a ½ wave and still keep it resonant to the 2.4GHz frequency by making use of a loading coil. These antennas are normally sold as an extended range 5dBi antenna.

+1 re the loading coil - would be great to get to know more!

Hi i would love to know more about how the loading coil works and the fundamentals of dipoles. Specifically are there other benefits of the loading coil other than keeping the dipole shorter? Also I'd like to know how to make a very high gain dipole for 2.4 Ghz. I've seen "Stacked" dipoles that look like the one you have made with several loading coils, would you consider making a tutorial video on one of those or some other very high gain dipole for the 2.4 Ghz? Thank you!

Will normal tv cable work?
