Introduction: Diy Christmas Sign From Scraps
This year i’m making some diy things to complement the Christmas decorations in the garden.
This sign is one of those.
I used only things I had lying around the house.
Supplies
What you need:
- An old placemat
- A piece of pvc pipe
- White spray paint
- Red tape or adhesive foil
- Vinyl leftovers
- Christmas bauble
Tools I used:
- Sandpaper
- Acetone
- Glue
- Cutting machine
- Scissors
Step 1: Prepare the Pvc Pipe
- First i cleaned the pvc pipe and the placemat, as they were dirty from previous use.
- If your pipe is to long, cut it to the right size with a saw. I cut mine down a little bit. The also created a more straight edge.
- Use sandpaper to roughen the surface of the pvc pipe and then go over it with acetone. This helps to get the paint to stick to the pipe.
Step 2: Finish the Pvc Pipe
- Use the white spray paint to paint the pipe.
- Once the paint is dry, use the red tape or adhesive foil to create the swirling pattern. You could also use red paint for this.
Step 3: Make the Signs
- Cut the shape of the signs out of the placemat. I made a paper template first. You can use the file "Christmas arrow" if you want to.

Step 4: Decorate the Signs
- Cut the background and text out of the scrap vinyl. I used my cricut maker3 for this. First I uploaded the sign template in design space. Then i created the text.
- Put the vinyl pieces onto the signs
Step 5: Finish the Christmas Sign
- Attach the signs to the pvc pipe using hot glue.
- Attach the Christmas bauble to the top of the pipe.
- Your sign is finished!
