Intro: Diy Paracord Survival Bracelet

In this instructable, I will show you how to make a paracord bracelet. I am in high school and have been making and selling these bracelets since 5th grade. The buckle I use in this instructable has a whistle in it, making it useful for hiking and camping. If you need to, the bracelet can be taken apart and you can use the cord. I like these bracelets because they are practical, and they look nice too.

STEP 1: Prepare Your Cord

When you first cut the paracord to length, the ends will probably have extra white cords sticking out. to fix this: tease out any white cord, then cut the end of the cord off. now pull on the ends and any white cord will be pulled back in.

STEP 2: (optional for Two Color) Fuse Your Cord

Once you have removed any excess white cord from the ends, simultaneously melt the ends of the cord with a lighter. Now quickly press the melted ends together, and hold them until they have hardened. Once they have fused give the cord a few quick tugs to ensure a good connection.

STEP 3: Attach the Cord to the Buckle

Fold your cord in half, and push the center through one of the buckle ends. Now push the two ends of your cord through the loop of cord and pull tight. Next, take the opposite side of the buckle, and push the two ends through it. Slide the non-fixed side of the buckle up and down, until you have the proper length between them for your arm.

STEP 4: The First Knot!

for the first knot, bring the cord on the left (red) loosely across the front, and under the right (yellow) cord. now pull the right cord around the back, and through the loop formed by the left cord. now pull the knot tight.

STEP 5: More Knots...

repeat the first knot, but this time bring the right cord across the front and the left cord around the back. every time you must make sure that you switch between left and right going across the front, otherwise, the bracelet will become twisted and knot work well (pun fully intended). now continue to repeat the knot until you get to the end of the bracelet.

STEP 6: Finish Off the Bracelet

Once you have finished the knots, there should be some extra cord. Cut the excess off as close to the last knot as possible. next, use a lighter to singe the end, melting it into the surrounding knot. This prevents both fraying and the bracelet from coming apart.

STEP 7: Show Off Your New Bracelet
