Here is an easy and cheap DIY solution how to make a drop stopping pour out of a soda can and a cork stopper. It is designed to immediately stop the pour of liquid when the bottle is lifted. Never spill another drop!

Easy project: The project is easy to make since all supplies that you need are household items that can be reused like a soda can and a cork stopper from a wine bottle.

User friendly: It can be put in the dish washer.

Safe: All the supplies that you need are already food grade (soda can, cork stopper).

Drop it in the neck of the bottle and pour with confidence.

Step 1: Parts List

For that project you only need a few items:

  • Drill
  • Scissors
  • Knife
  • Piece of cardboard
  • Pen
  • Drill bit (12mm diameter)
  • Drill bit (2mm diameter)
  • Cork stopper
  • Soda can

Step 2: Drill Hole in Cork Stopper

First make a small hole in the cork stopper. Then use the large drill bit (12mm diameter) to make the final hole.

Step 3: Prepare Template From Cardboard

Make a template from cardboard. For the dimension please check the picture. Cut out the template.

Step 4: Transfer Design to Soda Can

Open a soda can with a knife. Transfer the design of the cardboard to the aluminium sheet with a pen. Then cut along the lines.

Step 5: Insert Aluminum Pipe in Cork Stopper

Roll the aluminum sheet around the pen to form a pipe. Insert the pipe of aluminum into the cork stopper.

Step 6: Never Spill Another Drop

Drop the cork stopper in the neck of the bottle and pour with confidence.
