Introduction: Duct Tape Painting

Duct tape is a household material. It can be used to repair, decorate, etc. It isn't always very attractive and that's why we're using it to assist paintings today. Ever been staring at a dull wall with either a messy painting or one that took you ages to do. Now, with this technique you can brighten up your walls and your Facebook page with hundreds of likes on just a jiffy!

What you'll need:
Duct tape
Painting surface (don't use paper as when I did it wasn't too much success , cloth, canvas, or even walls!)
Paint brush
Pencil
Paint
Scissors
And some CREATIVITY!!

Cost:
You can normally find all of these materials in your closet. (Subjective)

Where to buy:
Local diy store
Or
Art store

How much time:
Less than you think (approx. 5-10 min)

End result:
A painting with strips of white spaces

Step 1: Design and Sketch

Materials needed for this step:
Pencil
Ruler
Painting surface

This may be a crucial element when doing paintings but with this technique it should not take you more than 2 minutes. Take a pencil, ruler and your painting surface. Wherever you draw lines will be where a strip of white space will be (and where you will stick the duct tape). Draw straight lines on your page according to where you want straight lines.

Tip:
Don't spend too much time on this

Step 2: Stick the Duct Tape

Materials needed for this step:
Painting surface
Duct tape

The title explains it all. Stick the duct tape on your straight lines on your painting surface.

Tip:
Make sure there are no air bubbles

Step 3: Paint!

Materials needed for this step:
Paint
Paint brush
Painting surface

Now comes the exiting part. Take your paint and paint brush and fill the whole page with paint.

Tip:
Use 3 or less colors

Step 4: Remove

Materials needed for this step:
Painting surface

Now you can remove the duct tape of the painting surface and admire the painting. I do not have any photos when the tape is off because I used paper and when the tape was removed the paper peeled off with it but I am sure it will work with cloth or canvas because I've tried it before. And also use the tip of using paper.

Tip:
Remove softly to avoid surface coming off with it
