Hi everyone!

In this ible i'm going to show you how to make a Bike Seatpost Mount spending less than 5$.

Few months ago I made the Bike Handlebar/Fork Mount. It's a really good mount because it allows you to mount your action camera on the handlebar or on the bike's frame (both on rear and front fork).

But, since the seatpost it's inclined backwards (photo#4), you can't use that mount otherwise you will film just the sky.

So I made this mount, with the improvement of a tripod mount adapter, that allows you to incline the camera keeping it parallel to the floor (photo#4) and to film your rides from a different point of view.

Step 1: Materials & Tools

MATERIALS:

- bike bell (used or 1$)

- Tripod Mount Adapter (1,70$)

- Universal 1/4" Mini Tripod Mount Adapter (1,80$)

- 1/4'' Screw (1,20$)

- rubber gasket from beer bottle

TOOLS:

- dremel with cutting wheel

- caliber

- screwdriver

- marking pen

Step 2: Prepare the Bike Bell

All you need to do is to dismount your bike bell.

You have to keep just the lower part (photo#2) and you have to change the original screws with two other ones a little longer.

With a cutter or small pliers you have to brake all the plastic parts till the base will look almost flat like mine in the first photo.

Finally you have to mark a little "X" right in the center and drill a hole of the size of your 1/4'' screw.

Step 3: Cut the Squared Screw (optional)

I founded just a screw with a squared head (photo#2) so I had to cut it.

Of course you don't have to follow this step if you find a regular screw.

The space between the plastic support measures 0,8mm so I simply cut the screw to let it enter in that space.

As you can see in the last photo, after the cut it fits perfectly.

Step 4: Assemble Everything

Start to assemble it by inserting from the bottom the cut screw in the bike bell's base and tightening it by screwing on a flat nut.

Once it's very tight, you need to screw on another flat nut.

Now it's the time to screw on the tripod mount adapter, but since there is a small gap between it and the second flat screw, I decided to add a rubber gasket (taken from a beer) that will fill that space and it will help to keep all more tight.

Finally, keeping the tripod mount adapter screwed on, unscrew the second flat nut till everything will be tighter and sturdier as possible.

GoPro tip:If you have a GoPro don't worry! You just need to assemble it in the same way, mounting to the tripod mount adapter your GoPro case instead of the universal 1/4" screw.

Step 5: Enjoy Yourself and Film Your Bicycle Ride

The Bike Seatpost Mount it's finished!

In less than 10 minutes we have built an economic and adjustable seatpost mount for any type of camera.

All you need to do is to mount it on your seatpost tube by tightening the two screws, and to screw on your action or compact camera. (If you use a compact camera like my white one, remember to set the screen options so it will be off while recording to save battery)

NOTE: I suggest you to add a little piece of bike tyre (photo#4) to make it sturdier, steadier, and to avoid that the plastic (your handmade mount) will slip on the metal (seatpost tube).
