Introduction: Easy 100% Metal Batarang

In this Instructables I will show you a simple step by step instructions on how to make a 100% metal Batarang.

Step 1: Supplies and Tools

For this project you only need 4 things:

1. a printed stencil of the Batarang design of choice

2. a 12cmx5cm (at least) of scrap metal, I got mine from an old firewall box, it is good as it is hard steel and an accurate thickness

3. a permanent pen of some sort or spray paint can

4.a fret saw, these can be purchased from Amazon for under £10

Step 2: Step 2: Cut Out Your Template and Glue to Your Sheet Metal

Once I had printed out my template I cut it out using a scalpel so that I could have a more accurate cut, then when I had finished cutting it out I got some spray adhesive and stuck on my template making sure it is perfectly smoothe by placing it on from one side and smoothing it out to the other.

Step 3: Step 3: Simply Clamping

firstly you must get a cutting mount if you do not have one of these I have an instructable on how to make one, you then you clamp your template on top of it on the side of your workbench as shown in the pictures.

Step 4: Step 4: Cutting

Now that you have prepared your template and clamped it down you must now start cutting it out to do so you can use a Dremel or a jewelers saw.

Step 5: Step 5: Filing

Now that you have cut out your shape you must now make it look nice and tidy by using an array of metal files (I recommend needle files for the best outcome). When filing remembers to pay attention to the wings of the Batarang and the head as these need careful filling for the most detailed end product.

Step 6: Step 6: Sharpening

once again using the files you must give your Batarang a sharpened effect by filing the sides (as seen in the picture).

Step 7: Step 7: Painting

Now that you have perfected the shape of your Batarang it is time to put the finishing touches to your product by painting it, you must paint it with these paints in this order:

  1. First, add the first coat of non-rust metal primer
  2. Secondly, add two coats of matt black spray paint
  3. lastly when you are happy with the black coats you can add a final layer of clear lacquerfor a shinning effect

Step 8: Congratulation! You Have Finnished Making Your Very Own Batarang!

Congratulation! You have finished making your very own Batarang! Feel free to display it as you wish.
