Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I'm excited to share a quick upcycled DIY project with you today. I will be transforming a tea container that I recently finished and reusing it to store tea bags. I wanted to give it a fresh new look. This project requires Mod Podge, paint, and other materials.

Supplies

Materials:

- One tea container

- Decorative tissue paper, wrapping paper, or napkin

- Acrylic paint

- Paintbrush

- Mod Podge

- Embellishments (e.g., wooden bead, hot glue)

Step 1: Adding Decorative Paper and Mod Podge:

For this project, I chose to use floral wrapping paper. I started by applying Mod Podge to the tin can with my paintbrush. Then, I placed the wrapping paper over the Mod Podge, working my way around the container. I used a heating tool to dry the Mod Podge as I went along.

Step 2: Decorating the Lid:

After that, I painted the metal lid with acrylic paint, applying around three coats to achieve good coverage. I used cut-outs from the decorative wrapping paper to embellish the lid. Using scissors, I cut out a few leaves and a larger flower. I applied Mod Podge to sections of the lid, added the cut-outs, and finished with more Mod Podge over the paint. Then, I used the heating tool to dry it. To add a touch of elegance, I used a smaller paintbrush to apply gold paint around the outer edge and along the decorative cut-outs on the lid.

Step 3: Adding the Bead:

Next, I used hot glue to attach a wooden doll head bead I purchased at my local Michaels store. I decided to paint over the previously used bead, adding a bit of gold paint over the black surface for a pop of color.

Step 4: Adding Embellishments:

Finally, I took some heart-shaped gem embellishments and attached a few to one side of the container using hot glue.

Step 5:

I love redesigning containers! It's a fun way to customize your storage while being environmentally friendly. While I'm using mine to store tea bags, you could easily repurpose a container like this for cotton swabs, art materials, wrapped candies, and more! Thank you for visiting and redesigning with me. See you soon!
