I have been doing drums for a while now, but my sticks were always all over. They wouldn't stay in anything I carried them in, and I couldn't find a stick case that looked good. I had some scrap vinyl leather lying around, which was big enough for a good-sized case.

Im sorry if the pictures arent very good, I wasnt really planning on making an instructable with this.

Step 1: Stuff!

I found I only needed a few things:

-The leather (duh!)
-Some copper-colored, heavy-duty thread (this is a must! Normal thread wont hold up)
-A curved sewing needle
-Pins

you will also need a straight edge, a marker or pen, and scissors

Step 2: Cut It to Size

I found that a piece of fabric about 18 inches by 2 inches was perfect for this, including sewing overlap (I had to eyeball it, these aren't exact), so I cut two pieces, one for the back and one for the front.

You will also need a piece 1 3/4 inches by about 4 or 5 inches. More on this part later.

Step 3: Start Sewing

The thread needs to be 6 times as long as the side that youre working on. You also need to tie the thread on the needle so that it is doubled, this gives it extra strength.

You will need to fold the fabric underneath itself about 1/4 inch on each side. I found that pinning this here helped a lot. I stitched this in a way where you pull the needle through one side, and then loop back over the edge to the same side again, like a corkscrew. Knot it at the ends to keep it in place. Do this for one of the long pieces.

For the other piece, stop sewing about 3 1/2 inches down from the top one a long edge. Youre going to fold it over and cut the excess off, so that it creates a corner. [See the pictures] Sew this corner, and finish it off.

Step 4: Extra Piece

Ok, so now for the extra piece. I noticed that when the front and back were placed together, you could see the white inside of it, which gave it a very unfinished look. It needed an inside, or at least a false one.

Sew this piece just like the other two, except only sew it on two adjacent sides. The other two are hidden from view inside it. Attach this to the top of this inside piece, on the inside, using the same stitch as you have been.

Step 5: Piece the Parts Together

Now's when you put all of the parts together. Put the front on the other side, so that The leather faces out. You need to pin this very well together, so that the edges are flush!

Once again, sew the parts together using the same stitch as before.

Step 6: Finished!

Youre now finished with the case! If you cut and sewed it properly, the sticks will slip inside very nicely, and be a little tight inside.
