Introduction: Easy Water Rocket

About: I am a mechanical engineering student with a passion for making and fixing things.

To make a rocket you will need the following:

  • An empty soda bottle ranging from 12 to 24 oz.
  • A Bottle Blaster Kit. The basic kit comes with a hose attachment (launcher) and 2 bottle attachments (nozzles)
  • A garden hose.

That's it! You didn't think that it would be that easy, did you?

Step 1: The Bottle Blaster Kit

Here are the sizes of kits available for purchase at https://www.artofsteel.net/bottle-blaster/. I recommend the "Starter Kit" it has everthing you need plus an extra nozzle for when you get the first one stuck in a tree after launching (I'm speaking from experience).

Step 2: Assembling a Rocket

Once you get the kit, assembly it pretty easy. You just:

  1. Screw a nozzle onto a bottle.
  2. Screw the shooter onto a hose and turn on the hose.
  3. Shove the nozzle/ bottle into the shooter. It will automatically fill until the pressure equalizes.
  4. Pull back the collar on the nozzle and let her fly!

The bottle can shoot up to 50 feet in distance and 20 feet high, so make sure that you have a good space to shoot it in. If your backyard isn't that big, you can just turn the hose one only partially to keep the fun contained to your yard.
