Introduction: Easy Paper Roses
Supplies for a dozen roses:
15 pieces of computer copy paper (18 for long stem roses)
Vinegar
Water
Food coloring
School glue
Scissors
Chopstick or pencil
Step 1: Dyeing the Paper
First you will need 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and 5 drops of food coloring for each color. Soak a piece of paper in your mixture for about 30 seconds and then set it somewhere to dry.
For a colorful bouquet:
Pink: 2 papers
Blue: 2 papers
Purple: 2 papers
Yellow: 2 papers
Orange: 2 papers
Green: 5 papers (8 for long stem roses)
Step 2: Stems
When your pieces of paper are completely dry get 3 (6 for long stem roses) green pieces and fold them twice making 4 pieces measuring 2.25 inches by 8.5 inches. Cut them and you will have 12 pieces (24 for long stems). Roll a piece around a chopstick and then twist the piece creating a long stick and glue the corner down. Repeat with all the green stem pieces. If you are making long stem roses put 2 stem pieces together.
Step 3: Petals
Fold the petal pieces in half 4 times creating 12 rectangle layers do not unfold and cut a petal shape through all the layers. Use your chopstick to curl all the petals except for 1.
Step 4: Making the Flower
Wrap your uncurled petal around the stem and glue it to the stem. Repeat gluing petals on one at a time fanning the petals out more and more until you are satisfied with the fullness of the rose. I used 9 to 12 petals for every rose. Spray with your favorite perfume and display them in a vase.
