Introduction: Eco Friendly Gift to Attract Sparrows & Parrots

Paddy-Bunch

Step 1:

Paddy is grown in many parts of the world. Rice is derived from paddy. The following instructable shows how to make a paddy-bunch which is loved by sparrows & parrots and also 100% Eco friendly.

Needed:

a. Paddy along with paddy-straws collected from harvested paddy farm.

b. a length of 3' cord made of jute or cotton.

c. a needle to suit for the cord selected.

Step 2:

The Paddy straws (always mean paddy straw along with paddy) shall be kept over-night on open terrace/yard so that the straw becomes soft and flexible. Otherwise, the straws break while folding.

Usually 2 straws at a stretch are woven like a lace as shown in the following images:

Step 3:

Take second pair of straws and interlace (weave) them as shown in the following images:

Step 4:

The above steps shall be repeated till you achieve a woven length of 1' to 1.5'.

Step 5:

Now the length shall be kept on the floor or a flat surface like a table and shall be rolled to make a conical head of the bunch as shown in the following images:

Step 6:

Make a knot just below the cone-head as shown

Step 7:

Insert the cord in the needle and insert the needle into the cone-head from the bottom to up as shown in the image:

Step 8:

Gently tighten the knot and the Bunch is ready for gifting your bird-loving-friend. If you have bird-friends, you may also hang it in a bird-reachable open place.
