Introduction: Egg Shell Plant Bud/ Seed Starter

Egg shells make a nice place to put a bud, or a seed for it to grow then you could transplant it into the ground. The egg itself, also makes a great fertilizer, so when translanting, you could just break the shell and plant it into the ground.

Supplies

Egg

Syringe

Drill/Drill press

Drill bits

A growing medium that will fit inside the hole

A funnel

Step 1: Adding Hot Glue to the Egg

I added hot glue to the top, to prevent the area from cracking. if you make the glue thicker, it's easier to pry off, with no residue, but it isn't required to take it off. Just cover the small area around 2 cm in diameter for the area you will drill in.

Step 2: Drilling in the Egg

I made a dot where i was going to drill, and started with a 4/16 drill bit, gradually making it up to the 11/64 bit. I used the 4/64,5/64,7/64,7/64 and 9/64 drill bits before using the 11/64. It's important to do this so the shell won't crack nearby. It's possible to use a larger bit for larger seeds.

Step 3: Getting Rid of the Yold and Egg White

I used a syringe to get the yolk out and added some water in to clean it. It's important to be careful, as the egg could crack. The yolk also could work as a fertilizer.

Step 4: Adding Soil

You could add any type, as long as it fits and a plant can grow in it. We used a funnel, and a toothpick to push the soil thru. Watering the plant is possible with the syringe, as the plant is still small and the tip of the syringe is small enough for a gap.

Step 5: Finished Project

Just add a seed and push some soil on top and water. The egg could stand on it''s own, but it might fall over, so it's best to rest it on something like a tissue or a leaf.
