Introduction: Electric GoKart

I built this electric go kart over the course of a few years.  I got the frame on Craigslist, and spent a long time restoring it.  The original frame came with a roll cage, but I removed it because it was a little to small for me.Then I bought the majority of the other components from scooter and Go Kart supply stores.  The motor is 36v and 1000w.  The controller is meant for an electric scooter, but I controlled it using a hall-effect pedal I found, instead of a wrist controlled throttle.  The seat is a tractor seat I bought from a friend.  I custom-made a box with a voltmeter to show battery charge, a key switch for ignition, fuse, and the charging outlet.  The batteries are 12v, 14ah sealed lead acid, and are wired in series.  I built the wheel assembly for the drive wheel myself.  All the wheels and tires are go kart wheels I bought on Ebay, and as of now are my main problem, as the bearing are low quality and keep wearing out.  In terms of performance, it has a top speed of about 25 miles per hour, can complete a U-Turn in a neighborhood street, and can brake from top speed in about 20 feet.  Please feel free to ask me any questions about this project!

    Hello, im going to make a Gokart and i have big electromotor it works on 24v,2,5A, 3000rpm but only problem is that the power is only 25w, is there any way to increase power of that motor, i think it can be more powerful because its really big motor but i dont know why it has low power

    the go kart will only start to move if u use a 750w motor

    The wattage is

    volt X amp= watt so your motor should be 24X2.5 = 60 watt not 25 watt

    there should be two coils inside the motor one is the rotor armature and the other is the stator armature which stays still only the rotor moves, you will have to change the stator with high power neodinium big magnets it will change the entirew configuration of the motor and thus will increase the wattage. you can also do a speed reduction by gears , 3000 to 300 then the wattege will increase to 10 times and will be 250

    Hi. I am building something similar. I would like to find out which chain and sprocket sizes you used. Or what is the approximate gear ratio? Did you need to give the kart a push before driving the motor?

    Thanks very much!

    1000 watt 48 volt 4000 rpm, there should be a speed reduction chain sprocket and you will get a very powerful motor for a small kart. for other helps including li-ion battery contact me at parasarb121@gmail.com, i will be obliged to help yo with anuthing.

    Theoretically you could run any 48v battery off of it. 20ah won't give you much run time htough.

    shakti swarup 12 volt of 20 amp hr battery (4 that makes it 48 volt 20 amp hr battery pack. now voltage of the motor multiplied X amp of the motor = wattage of the motor now suppose you have a motor with 1000 watt then

    voltage 48

    watt 1000

    amp =?

    amp of the motor is= watt / voltage

    which will be

    amp= 1000/ 48

    =20.83333

    so the ampere the motor uses is 20.888

    hence your battery is 48 volt 20 amp hr so it can give 20 amps in one hr hence theoriticaly your car wiill go a little less then 1 hr, but in practically there are some energy losses which concludes that it may run 45 min.

    You have to know the wattege or amp of the motor. for battery heigher power and other help you can contact me at parasarb121@gmail.com.
