Introduction: Emergency Duct Tape Stash

About: I'm a computer engineer - but please don't judge me by that. I heat with wood, fix broken things and love camping with my family. I'm a closet solar nerd, love coupons, not scared to dumpster dive and love h…

Duct tape is great - unless you don't have any when you need it.

Here is a quick and simple way that I've been using for years to keep a little with me without the bulk of toting around a full roll. This is very handy to have for any outdoor adventure.

Step 1: Supplies

1. Duct Tape

2. Water bottle

3. 30 seconds of your time

Step 2: Rip It

Leaving the tape still on the roll - begin make a rip about 1/2 the width of the tape.

Step 3: Roll It

Stick the tape to the bottle, rotating the roll of tape around the bottle.

Be sure it over laps or the adhesive will not work later.

Make several passes around the bottle and rip it off.

Make a second tape roll with the other 1/2.

Step 4: Stick It

Tear of a piece when you need it!

The tape will last for months (or more) attached to your bottle with no issues.

I've recently discovered the awesomeness of gaffer's tape - OMG!! HUGE difference! But, anyway, I wrapped some around an empty Chap-Stick tube. Fits in a pocket or purse - you can easily rig it up to attach it to a keychain...of course, you could do the same with duct tape.

Med tape does not hold up to water well in my experience and if you buy the good duct tape the adhesive is much stickier.

Para chord would make a good option for a bottle holder or preferably a belt- not bad to have on you but very different use than duct tape.
