Introduction: Erik's LED Christmas Pop-up Card
Create a simple LED pop up card with just paper, glue, copper tape, battery and LED lights!
Supplies
Materials needed:
- Paper (at least 180gsm)
- Colour markers or colour pencils
- Glue Stick
- Copper tape
- LED light sticker (chibitronics used in this card example)
- double-sided tape
- scissors
- Battery (3V)
Step 1: Create Your Pop-up Folds and Design Your Card
Start drawing and cut out your drawings for the Christmas card. For the example, v-fold is used for the christmas tree to make it stand up when the card is opened.
For v-fold pop-up, make sure you have 2 additional tabs to stick on your drawing later.
Decorate your card.
Step 2: Build LED Circuit
On a new piece of paper, use copper tape to create a simple circuit.
Position your battery first (3V) and paste the tape on the new paper.
Connect your LED sticker to the position where you want it to light up.
Step 3: Test It Out, Enjoy!
Try to close your pop up card and open to test if the pop-up folds fit well and if the circuit lights up the LED.
Have fun!
