Introduction: Fall Orange Smocking Flower Vase

About: Creative @Heart. Creative @Mind.

Using a deep orange color velvet fabric with smocking pattern, I made an attractive flower vase

Supplies

1. 15 inches X 15 inches orange velvet cloth

2. Needle

3. Orange thread

4. Ruler

5. Pen

6. Scissors

Step 1: Preparing the Orange Velvet Cloth

The shiny side is the soft side of the velvet cloth and the bland one is the back side. I first placed this neatly on the mat.

Step 2: Marking the Fabric

Marked 2cm x 2cm squares leaving 1 cm in between on either sides of the cloth.

Step 3: Steps to Stitch

In this step I marked a square grid on the back side of the cloth with 2 cm X 2 cm lines as shown in image 1. 18 lines horizontally and 18 vertically. Then I made squares with 3 x 3 dots as seen in images 1 & 2. Each square is treated as one box of pattern to be repeated over and over. Refer the image for the dots from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and back to 1. Pull the thread. This is the start and the end of the pattern. The picture shows how to stitches are made side-by-side.

Then, I repeated the same steps all over the cloth and it is ready.

Step 4: Glass Bottle

Then I took a clean glass bottle and wrapped the smocked orange velvet fabric around the bottle. Lookup the images. Later neatly tied up some jute twine around and finally put a nice bunch of floral branch to complete the richness of the orange colored smocked vase. This turned out to be a great fall project!!!
