Intro: Find- It Jar !

Have you ever seen those nifty find-it jars in the toy store? Last Christmas, I made a find-it for the puzzle lover in my life and it has given them hours of entertainment. Keep reading to learn how to make your own find-it.

STEP 1: Jar and Items

Find a nice jar with a lid. Any jar will work, the smoother the shape the better. Also, long tube-like jars have a nice effect.

Collect an assortment of small objects. Depending on who you are making it for, the object can be very small for a harder challenge or larger for someone with poor eyesight or frustrates easily. I think the best way to go is a combination of sizes. Here are a few ideas:

unique beads
a match
a rubber band
a straight pin
a sequin
a button
a paper clip
googly eyes

See the picture for the contents of my jar.

STEP 2: List

Make a list of the objects, you will need this later. For even more fun ,be a little cryptic in your descriptions!

STEP 3: Fill the Jar

For my filler material, I used perler beads which are similar to the plastic pieces in the original find-it toys. I bought a few thousand beads for a few dollars on Amazon. To fill the jar, alternately pour in the perler beads and your objects to get an even and challenging mix.

STEP 4: Cap and List

Cap the jar tightly, if you wish, use a little glue. Get a sturdy piece of card stock and write down the list of all the items. Punch a hole in the card stock and tie the list to the top of the jar. Use the list as a reference when playing with the jar. Now you are finished! Go enjoy your find-it jar!

I loved your idea. Maybe instead of beads, small pebbles or bird seeds can be used to make it more eco-friendly.
Great idea! You said to be a little cryptic in your items. For instance, if you have a small model clock, you could say, "A number 6" or, "Two small hands".
