Fire & Ice Snowflakes

Introduction: Fire & Ice Snowflakes

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Usually snowflakes are white, but with this simple DIY project, that doesn't mean you have to! Why not use some red craft sticks and blue and white paint to make what I like to call "Fire & Ice Snowflakes"! They're super easy to make, and it doesn't require a lot of time; it only takes under 8 minutes to make!

Step 1: What You'll Need

To make your fire & ice snowflakes, you will need

  • red craft sticks
  • 3D puff paint in white, blue and silver
  • glue (I used E6000)
  • sparkle pom poms (I used blue and silver)
  • Optional: rhinestones / glitter (not pictured)

Step 2: Make the Snowflakes

To start, make your snowflakes by gluing 3 craft sticks on top of each other. Make sure that you use 3 sticks for each snowflake, because all snowflakes have 6 points.

Step 3: Decorate the Snowflakes

One the glue is dry, you can now decorate your snowflakes! Here, I used 3D puff paint in blue, white and silver to give them a more icy effect! Also, I added a blue or silver pom-pom to each snowflake for a burst of sparkle in the middle! You can also use rhinestones and / or glitter for extra sparkle and shine!

Step 4: Let It Snow!

Now, the best part: you can hang them on your tree at Christmas! The amazing thing about these snowflakes is that you don't even need to add a string to hang; you can just place on the tree and the branches will keep them in place! Make as many snowflakes as you like for a hot-n-cold effect to your tree!
