Introduction: First Attempt at Computer Aided Manufacturing in Fusion 360

This is my first attempt at computer aided manufacturing (CAM) setup in Fusion 360. My set up is meant to be milled wood and I'm using a 1/4 inch flat drill bit for all of my moves.

Step 1: Milling Away My Stock

The most challenging aspect of this project was learning how to take the stock size into account when milling out my model. This took a bit of figuring out, but ultimately I was able to achieve the desired result by including the stock in my 2D adaptive milling steps.

This example is very simple, as I only used a single drill bit, and I may be dipping my drill bit too far vertically in the lower steps, but these are all adjustable once I gain some experience with the various tools.

I also did not use a facing bit for the top, which may be better, though most of the examples I saw with it were using aluminum and not solid wood.

Developing an understanding of the actual bits and their interactions with materials will be essential to continue with this project.

Step 2: Simulation

Here is a video of my simulated tool paths.
