Introduction: Fixing a Shoestring

About: Hi. I am Alex. I am not a genius, but I like to learn random stuff, and like everyone here, to make things.

The plastic tip at the end of the shoestrings have the bad habit of breaking/wearing out. When that happens, you will find very difficult to get the shoestrings through the holes from your shoes. The shoestrings aren't a fortune, but why throwing an intact shoestring because of a little piece of plastic? In this instructable, I will show you how to fix that.

Supplies

Can lead or metal sheet

Metal shears

Shoestring

A screwdriver could be useful

pliers

Step 1: Cut a Little Rectangle

Using the shears, cut a little rectangle out of the metal sheet. Make sure it is wide enough to wrap around the shoestring.

Step 2: Bend It

Bend it with the pliers to form half a tube. Leave a straight side.

Step 3: Wrap It Around the Shoestring

Wrap the tube with the pliers around the shoestring. Do not bend the straight side unless you have to, otherwise you won't be able to cut it. Don't overlap layers of metal.

Step 4: Cut the Excessive Material

Cut the unnecessary straight side.

Step 5: Compress the Tube As Tight As Possible

Compress the tube as tight as possible with the pliers and you are done.
