Introduction: Flapping Bird

About: Dream Kit is an ever-growing library of electronic building blocks that snap together with a single wire and can be coded with simple English for prototyping, learning and fun.

A boring day, you walk around not knowing what to do and there’s a cute little bird waiting to flap its wings on your arrival. No matter big or small, any fascinating thing can energize you and get you on track.

Make a feathered creature and play with it!

Step 1: Things Required

1. Dream Kit

2. Chart paper

3. Cardboard

4.A pair of scissors

5. Thread or string

6. Paper fastener

7. Split pins

8. Ice-cream stick

9. Hot glue / glue

Step 2: How It Works

We all know that the Distance sensor (ultrasonic) gives the distance of the object in front of it. In this project we are using a distance sensor to detect humans at a certain distance and then rotate the servo which is connected to the bird’s wings to open it when a person is present in front of the bird and fold the wings when no one is in front of it.

Step 3: Connections

Step 4: Programming Dream Kit With DK Studio

Connect the HUB to your computer using a USB cable. Open DK studio software in your computer and make sure that you have chosen the correct port number and press on ‘Connect’. The modules connected will appear in the module box. Program your Dk as shown above.

Step 5: Build Your Model:Cut It Along the Borders As Shown Below

Step 6: Attach It Together With Glue

Step 7: Now Let’s Fix the Wings to the Body Using Split Pins As Shown Below

Step 8: Use Thread to Tie Both the Wings Together and Fix It to a Servo Horn As Shown Below Attach Ice Cream Stick As a Support for the Bird

Step 9: Let's Make a Base for the Bird Using Some Ice Cream Stick

Step 10: Now Start Placing the Hub and the Modules Over the Base As Shown Below

Upload the program and play with your feathered creature !!!!

Step 11: Awesome!!! You Have Created Your Own Flapping Bird :)
